Dear Fellow Friends,

The history of our department began as of 1918 while the 2nd Department of Surgery of the Medical Faculty of the Warsaw University was chaired by Professor Franciszek Krajewski. We do our best to continue this outstanding heritage of 90 year of surgical excellence and practice always served to the local community of the capital Warsaw and all the country. Celebrating this extraordinary anniversary, we would be extremely happy to welcome you all, Dear Fellow Friends, at the 6th International Symposium Progress in Liver Surgery & Transplantation „Progress in Liver Surgery and Transplantation” to be held in November 14-15, 2008.

Since many years we invite you for the biannual meeting being the traditional meeting point of the liver surgeons form all over the country and abroad. Since beginning, our meeting stimulates professional discussion and evokes the great attitude among these who deals with liver clinical practice, surgery and transplantation. We do our best to offer you the outstanding programmed focused on the upcoming developments in hepatology, gastroenterology, infection diseases, radiology, oncology, anesthesiology. pathology and microbiology.

In order to enhance the powerful program of the meeting we invite leading fellows representing world renowned centers in hepatology and transplantation form Europe, North America and Asia accompanied by Polish colleagues. Thanks to them our meeting meets not only the international education and research standards but is well recognized and admired. We would express our special thanks to the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT) and European Liver and Intestinal Transplantation Association (ELITA), who support our meeting with their kind patronage and recommendation.

This year we will be proud and extremely happy to welcome Sir Roy Calne, professor Henri Bismuth, professor Daniel Jaeck, professor Michael Trede, professor Alfred Cuschieri and many others who kindly accepted our invitation to join us this fall in Warsaw. The main topic of the meeting this year will be HCC and progress in biliary surgery.
